Dumpster Divin' Days
Isaac continually corrects me saying it's recycle bin diving, not dumpster diving. But that just doesn't flow as well. A few weeks ago my younger siblings (Isaac and Abi) found a simple way to make $money$ :) Each morning they have diligently spent at least an hour going 'round the neighborhood collecting recyclables and then coming home and telling Mom and myself about such and such "jackpot" they hit. And each Tuesday they haul their treasure down to the community center to turn it in for the aforementioned $money$. Usually they collect quite a large bunch. This is the evidence for this weeks:
They are very proud of their work and have, on many occasions, tried to persuade me to come along. No, dumpster *ahem* I mean recycle bin diving is not for me.

My Feast (part deux)
The finished product!

My Feast (part un)
Today is a very special day! It is the day of my Feast. Feast is a tradition in my family, a tradition that we stole from another family somewhere along the line. Each Saturday night we celebrate the Sabbath with a larger meal than normal. Mom spends all day preparing food, my brother, sister and I set the table with our nice silverware and china, and we all sit down to a dinner that will last for at least two hours. This week it is my turn to prepare our Sabbath Feast. The menu: salad for the first course, roast with potatoes and carrots for the main course, rolls and green-bean casserole as sides, and, to top it all off, chocolate truffles for dessert. As I discussed my menu earlier this week with my mom I told her that I must make truffles, I didn't care what I cooked for the main course, there must be truffles present. Well, not everything is finished yet, but here are some pics anyways!
The roast:
The rolls:

and the truffles!!

I will post finished product photos after products are finished (makes sense doesn't it?!).

The 4th
Hope you all had a great Independence Day!!!
I had intended to take loads of pictures of our bar-b-que with friends and the fireworks we went to see, but I forgot...Lame excuse I know. If you could find it in your hearts to forgive me I would be truly grateful :)

A Fantastic Day at Kalama Beach Park
This afternoon many families from our church's congregation gathered for a potluck at the beach. Lots of food, fun games, and swimming made for a very exciting afternoon. Before all the food and people arrived, some of us kids decided to burn off our excess energy. (I know! Isn't that amazing?! We had energy to run off!)
For those of you who do not already know this, it does NOT snow very often here in Hawaii. So we made do with wet grass as a substitute for snow and boogie boards as sleds.
Nora was getting very excited about the whole thing.
After everyone arrived, we ate and the fun began!! The first game we played was a cross between a three-legged race and a gunny sack race.

Ahh yes, obviously I do not have my gunny sack license. In this picture I am trying to untangle my partner from my sister....hmmm. The next game was the egg toss. I politely declined to participate. Last year I got raw egg all over. Not going to happen again! No-sir-ee!!
The distribution of the eggs!! Now line up with your partner aaaannnndddd toss!!!
Oooor stretch as far as you can and hand your egg to your partner. Takes away from the whole egg toss part of it.
Eventually though, they were too far apart to hand the egg across so most people actually tossed their eggs. But other, wiser people simply rolled their eggs across the ground to their partner. THAT'S MY SISTER!! GOOOO ABI!! I'd like to mention that she made it home with her egg intact. The next activity was a father/child(ren) game that made every child giddy with excitement. Clint Eubanks provided instructions: "Ok now!! Fall in!! Here's the drill!! Each participant will be given shaving cream and popcorn. First you will cover your dad's face in liberal amounts of shaving cream. Then, using your popcorn as ammo, you will fire at your target (aka dad's head). Whoever ends up with the most ammo on their target wins!"

The above pictures are obviously of dads being *ahem* "creamed". After the creaming of fathers, certain persons grabbed the unused shaving cream cans and started a "chase people and spray them all over with shaving cream" game.
Some people were targeted more than others....The rest of the day was spent playing in the ocean, digging in the sand, getting sunburned, all the things that you are expected to do at the beach!

QUIZ!!
I have officially been "tagged" by my friend Sierra. I have never been tagged by blog before so I pray that I am not making a fool out of myself and doing this whole thing hopelessly wrong.
The following are the 'rules.' If you are tagged you must:
1. Post about the tag.
2. Pick 10 bloggers who deserve this award.
3. Leave a comment on the blogs of the people you tagged letting them know they were awarded.
4. Answer the questions along with your post.
And so here are the questions. I know all of you have been yearning to hear my magnificent, in-depth, life-impacting answers.
1: Apples, Oranges or Bananas? Apples. Pure and simple, BUT if there are no apples....*sigh*... then I suppose I could eat an orange.
2: How many siblings do you have? Two brothers, Isaac (who is 12) and Bear (who just turned 3) and one sister, Abi (who is 10).
3: How old are you? I am a fourteen year old freshman :)
4: Do you live on a prairie, woodland, swamp, city or other? I live in a city which is situated on a large rock out in the middle of the Pacific. Just kidding (about the rock part, not about the city or middle of the Pacific part) Check back in about six months though and you'll find me in Germany.
5: Scissors or glue? Well, is this a glue stick or glue bottle we're talking about here?! Got to be specific now. I guess I would choose glue over scissors because there's that nasty little rule about not running with scissors. Where's the fun in that?!
6: Describe your dream house. I would like to live in a farm house with lots of horses and other animals. Well, that's where I dream of living on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I dream about living in a really nice apartment in the city and attending a huge dance school. But on SUNDAYS, well, no one knows where I dream of living on Sundays and it will just have to stay a mystery won't it?
7: Is your room clean? Why yes of course! Well, as long as you don't look in the closet anyways...
8: If you could be a movie character for a day, who would you be? Hmmmmmmm.....let me mull this one over and get back to you later.
9: Italy, Greece, France, Spain or England? France definitely.
10. Do you sleep with a stuffed toy (BE HONEST!)? Well, I like to sleep with this really squishy type pillow that I absolutely adore! But if I don't have my pillow with me I can still get to sleep, it's not one of those I-must-have-my-pillow-with-me-every-night-or-I'll-scream type things...I promise.
11: Gum, chocolate, or jelly beans? CHOCOLATE?!?! WHEEERRREEE?! I think that sums up my feelings quite nicely.
12: What is your favorite book? Just one?! Zat is impossible!! *Ahem* I have quite a few books I like so I'm not going to hurt myself trying to pick one....NEXT QUESTION!!
13: Favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate. I am a simple person....psh.
14: If you had to eat one type of food for two weeks, what would that food be? I think I would choose Mexican or Italian. Pizza is Italian right?
15: What is your favorite Olympic sport? Iceskating I guess, since they believe that that is a sport but ballet/dance isn't.
16: If you woke up and discovered that you had turned into Miley Cyrus for the day, what would you do? What kind of a question is this?! My answer is quite obvious. I would scream. And no, I have not planned what that day would look like after the screaming part.
17: Describe yourself in three words. Student, dancer, crazy.
18: What chore do you hate? Hate is a very strong word, and as my friend would say, "We don't hate, we just strongly dislike." I strongly dislike cleaning bathrooms.
19: If Elmo came into your room with a gun, what would you do? Is this supposed to be better or worse than the Miley Cyrus question? I would probably throw him in my closet and call the M.P.s as he began to sing his theme song. I do despise that theme song.
